I’m a 69-year-old retired chaplain, a husband, father, and grandfather who's lived in Tipton County long enough to know what makes our community special. I'm running for Cicero Township Board because I want to make sure our township honors its traditions while also embracing the modern ways to keep our people and resources safe.
I’m not looking to start a political career; I’m running to serve my neighbors. Whether you live in the city or not, you deserve a Board member who listens, looks into the facts, and treats the public trust with respect.
I’ve enjoyed 45 years engaging in pastoral care with people, most recently as a hospital chaplain in Indiana and before that in North Carolina, New Haven, Connecticut, New York City, Mexico City, Lima, Peru, and Santiago, Chile. I also enjoy working with data and technology and believe in balancing tradition and innovation, compassion and structure, and the power of listening and speaking up.
I offer a unique combination for Cicero Township:
An Advocate Who Understands: Moving here 27 years ago after living and working in other states and countries, I appreciate our community's special history and the importance of our safety net.
Democratic Values: I support Indiana's Open Door Law so that We the People may be fully informed of what public agencies do in our name. I will accept no donations from corporate PACs or backroom deals of any kind.
The Skills to Modernize: My knowledge of people, communities, spreadsheets, databases, and budgets will help ensure that our Volunteer Fire Department and Township Assistance programs are funded properly and running efficiently.
I am running as a "Committee of One." I answer only to the voters of Cicero Township, not to a political machine.
If elected, I promise to be:
A Watchdog: I will read every contract and audit every ledger.
Accessible and Transparent: I’m your neighbor. My phone number is (765) 415-2089; I answer my own calls/texts and respond to all voice messages. Questions, Concerns, Comments, etc.? Submit them to me on the form found on this website's Contact page.
Compassionate: I will ensure our Township Assistance office remains a dignified and effective resource for neighbors facing hard times.
Experience you can trust.
Efficiency we need.
Empathy we can't do without.
